How much does Business insurance cost?

No matter if you sell fishing tackle or lollipops, no two small businesses are the same. Each business has its own set of risks to deal with and these risks effect what cover you may need. That’s why there isn’t a stock-standard price of business insurance. When calculating the price of your policy, there are many factors that are taken into consideration.

Some of these may include:

  • The size of your business
  • How many staff you have
  • The type of small business you are running
  • The type of coverage you take out
  • Your excess
  • The level of cover
  • Your claims history
  • Your shop’s location

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Business Insurance Mandatory?

While there is the flexibility to choose what sort of cover you want for your business and the level of cover, there may be some situations where certain types and levels of cover are mandatory.

For example Public Liability or Professional Liability insurances are a common requirement for individuals who work on certain contracts, especially within the government sector. This is sometimes the case when becoming a member of certain industry bodies and boards.

It’s important to be aware that your personal insurance may not cover your business assets or property. If you have a home-based business, things like your home and contents insurance policy may not extend to provide cover for any liabilities which may relate to your business.
