Here at BizCover, we seek to recognise and reward small businesses owners who go above and beyond for their customers. For business owners like Lewis, he loves to pursue his goals in the field of aluminium and manufacture windows.
The $2,000 BizGiver grant is awarded each quarter to better the lives of small business owners and facilitate growth through a product or service. In this round of BizGiver New Zealand received a numerous of entries, making it highly difficult to select a winner. During our selection process, we provide a space for small business owners to share their story and tell us how they plan to use the grant. At BizCover, we take this grant seriously. We share all the finalists’ stories with our staff and invite everyone to vote for who they think should receive the grant.
Congratulations to Lewis Trickett for being the latest recipient of the BizGiver grant. He currently has Public Liability with BizCover since he started his small business. We are proud to support Lewis and Anything Aluminium through his journey!
When did you start your business?
I started Anything Aluminum as I have 10 years experience in manufacturing and really enjoy the tricky and adaptability required for onsite service work on joinery.
Why did you enter the BizGiver competition? Why did you wish for your particular wish?
I entered as I have a big project where I could manufacture windows and get back into the manufacturing side of things on my own. The drop saw is exactly what I need to be able to begin the process of manufacturing.
How will winning this prize help your business?
It will enable me to start cutting extrusions to make new windows and doors from scratch which I have just not been able to get setup for yet.
What does being a small business owner mean to you?
It gives me confidence to pursue some goals and keep learning new things. It means I get to be my own boss and call the shots on the direction I go.
Why do you love your job?
In the service part of the business, no 2 doors are the same. There is always something tricky to deal with and it is a good challenge to deal with.
Where do you see your business in 5 years’ time? What are your growth goals?
I want to be a manufacturer of APL joinery with a small team offering the highest quality joinery and the best service in the country.
What are the biggest challenges your business faces? Will winning the prize help?
Not enough hours in a day! Life is just so busy these days. The prize is definitely a step up and will kick start me on the journey to manufacturing.
What have been your biggest achievements?
Acquiring the project I have at the moment. It’s been a real consistent provider of work and income for the last couple of years.
